As the popularity of electric scooters rose in U.S. cities, so did their potential for danger. The AECP (American College of Emergency Physicians) responded to a growing number of scooter related injuries and launched a national PSA to inform riders of best practices. The agency August Lang & Husak asked Interface Media Group to create this funky and engaging animated PSA. I helped bring it to life while serving as the Director of Animation at IMG. I worked closely with with my old pal and IMG Creative Director Dave Flood, to collaborate with the hugely talented artist and animator Peter Gulsvig. Led by the creative vision and wit of the agency Creative Director, Chuck Husak. As usual the IMG audio team knocked it out of the park.
The mixed media visual approach to the backgrounds made for some really appealing artwork. My coworker Will Summers and I captured many of the city elements with an iPhone on the streets around the IMG studio in DC. To create the final look, I incorporated these elements with manipulated stock photos, and some of my hand drawn art.
